Why most local businesses waste money on social media (it's not the algorithm)
I've audited a lot of local business Instagram pages — restaurants, gyms, salons. The pattern is almost always the same: inconsistent posting, no clear call-to-action, and content that shows the product but never the PEOPLE behind it.
Local customers don't follow brands, they follow people they trust in their neighborhood. The accounts that actually convert followers into walk-ins do three things:
Post consistently (3-4x/week minimum, not "when we remember")
Show the owner/staff on camera, not just food/product shots
Always end with a reason to visit THIS WEEK (a special, an event, a limited slot)
That's the whole system behind what we do at Storefront Social. If you run a local business and want a free audit of your current page, drop a comment.
